Game Thread 5/20: Vazquez looking for first win at The Ted

on .

A casualty of the Braves struggles at The Ted this season, Vazquez (3-3, 3.71) is looking for his first win at home tonight.  Vazquez will face LHP Jorge De La Rosa (0-3, 3.16 ERA).  All three of Vazquez's losses have come at The Ted.  His record certainly doesn't reflect the job he's been doing.  Vazquez is fourth in the majors with 11.31 strikeouts/9.0 innings.  He's also tied for fifth with a 5.15 walk-to-strikeout ratio.  He's tied for the team lead with six quality starts, sharing the stat with Lowe and JJ.  His six quality starts come from a total of eight starts this season.  The Braves really need to get him his first win at The Ted (in a Braves uniform) tonight!

In other news, congratulations go out to Chipper Jones and Brian McCann who made The Sporting News' list of the Top 50 players in baseball.  The list claims to name the top 50 players in the game today, not necessarily the players in the game who have had the best overall careers.  Chipper came in 10th overall and 2nd amongst third basemen behind ARod.  McCann came in 50th overall and 2nd amongst catchers behind Joe Mauer.  I personally disagree that Mauer is better than McCann, but congrats to them both for making the list!

Chipper Watch:  Chipper is just one hit shy of his 1,000th hit at Turner Field, so he's bound to hit the mark tonight.  Go on down to The Ted and catch it!

Don't forget that rookie Kris Medlen makes his major league debut at The Ted tomorrow night!  I'm excited to see what he can do at the big league level.
