The Mets are coming to town for a quick two-game jag, and -- lucky them! -- Garret Anderson's eligible to come off the DL tomorrow, since he decided he didn't need any minor league time. (Why would he? He's only batting .200 this year and is coming off a leg injury. Can we just use him as a bullpen catcher and keep him far away from the lineup?)

Tonight we get to face John Maine, who is having a rough year (1-2, 5.40 ERA), coming off September shoulder surgery and a changed pitching delivery, but he was very effective in his last start: 6 innings, 1 hit, 1 unearned run, 4 K, 3 BB.

Javy Vazquez is going for us, and he's been great this year. He's given up 12 runs all year, 4 of them on 5 singles in the 5th inning last Wednesday. Other than that, he's been pretty hard to touch: 42 strikeouts in 32 innings, against just 8 walks.

Tomorrow's Livan Hernandez, though. I always look forward to facing him, because every home run we hit off him is a bit of cosmic retribution for 1997 and Eric Gregg's strike zone.
