Kris Medlen, the guy who isn't Tommy Hanson, Charlie Morton, or Jo-Jo Reyes, is getting another shot at the big league rotation. (I'd like him a lot better if he could play corner outfield.) His season line isn't pretty -- 8 1/3 IP, 9.72 ERA -- but he had a much better start his last time out than his first time out. (His first start, he gave up 5 ER in 3 IP; his second, 4 ER in 5 1/3 IP.) Neither is a performance by a valuable major league starter, but the second start was legitimately better than the first, with fewer walks, a better strike-to-ball ratio, and much better pitch economy. If he can continue improving, he'll deserve a place in the rotation. If not, I'm sure Charlie Morton would love another chance.
