Only one real surprise out of this bunch..
PITCHERS
Mike Dunn
Jeff Lyman
Mariano Gomez
HITTERS
Brent Clevlen
Mitch Jones
Orlando Mercado
The mild surprise for me is Dunn, who I thought was pitching pretty well and still had a shot and making the bullpen to start the year. Lyman was also pitching great, but I think he had less of a chance due to his age and lack of experience. As for Gomez, we all know how I feel about him. Frankly, he stole enough innings from guys who actually had a shot to make the roster, and its good he won't be stealing anymore.
Now, the hitters. No real surprises for me. Clevlen and Jones struggled horribly in camp and looked like they just slapped that 4-A label even more blatantly on their heads. And people thought they'd be effective bench players...not today, dear. As for Mercado, he was an extra catcher brought into camp and had no chance in hell at making the roster. He should get significant at bats at either Gwinnett or Mississippi though.
With these cuts, a new roster analysis will be up this afternoon...we're getting down to the nitty gritty!
