HOT or NOT - 5/17/10 edition

Written by Joe Lucia on .

Should be pretty cut and dry as to who the 3 hottest players on the team are...but I'll let you all think about it for 10 seconds. HOT Eric Hinske: .529/.550/.941, 2 R, 4 2B, 1 HR, 8 RBI, 2 BB, 3 K This one is pretty cut and dry. Hinske was inserted into the starting lineup this week, and starting raking like he was born to do it. When you post an OPS near 1.500 in 5 games...yeah, you're on a pretty good roll. Hinske should continue to get regular playing time until he starts to cool off. Which isn't happening any time soon by the looks of it, as he's 2/2 tonight with a double and a homer. Troy Glaus: .417./500/.833, 5 R, 1 2B, 3 HR, 7 RBI, 4  BB, 4 K The Braves were expecting this Troy Glaus when he was signed prior to the 2010 season, not the soul sucking leech that showed up for the first month of the season. Glaus has come along and is now hitting a ton, now second on the team in homers and RBI. The Braves absolutely need Glaus to continue to produce in the cleanup spot, and this week was a great sign for future production. Martin Prado: .367/.387/.667, 4 R, 3 HR, 11 RBI, 1 BB, 6 K The reigning NL Player of the Week deserves a little love. 11 RBI hitting out of the leadoff spot? Come on! I'd like to see more walks from a leadoff hitter, but whatever, he hit 2 homers. Nice way for Prado to get off the little schnide he was on the past couple of weeks. Prado's reached three times tonight. I guess he's gonna keep this hot streak rolling for a little while. NOT Jesse Chavez: 0-0, 31.50 ERA, 7 H, 7 ER, 3 HR, 0 BB, 3 K I climbed to the highest mountain I could this spring, and proclaimed with my largest megaphone: JESSE CHAVEZ SUCKS. This week vindicated me. At least he didn't walk anyone. Melky Cabrera: .200/.333/.300, 1 R, 1 2B, 2 BB, 2 K Limited playing time, but its tough to pick people this week. Melky Cabrera sucks, and always will suck. Thank god he's strictly coming off the bench nowadays...sure it makes the bench a little weaker with Hinske starting, but it makes the lineup that much stronger. Gotta love it. I can only pick two guys who NOT...the team had a really good week, winning 5 of 6. When that happens, guys are usually playing really good. Good job team, here's hoping we're able to pull out the game tonight!
