First day of September...a bright day is upon us, and there is news, as usual.
-The big news that broke this afternoon is that Derek Lowe will not be starting on Friday, and that starting in his place will be...Kenshin Kawakami. What to make of this? Well...I'm not really sure. The Braves are 3-6 in Lowe's starts since the All-Star Break, and his ERA in that time is 4.93. KK meanwhile, is 1-9 with a 4.75 ERA...but hasn't started in the majors since the end of June. I have no idea how well his arm will be able to hold up...5 innings of 3 run ball, and I'll be happy.
-Freddie Freeman is making his major league debut tonight for the Braves. He's playing first base, hitting in the 6-hole, and wearing #5. I'm so excited...but at the same time, I almost don't want to see Freeman play with how well Derrek Lee has swung the bat the past few games. Lee's reached base safely in his last 6 games, and has reached 6 times in the last 2 games.
-The Braves are just 8 wins away from tying the franchise records for home wins in a season, with 56. 56 home wins equates to a .691 winning percentage. The Braves current 48-18 record is a .727 winning percentage. Food for thought...
Enjoy the game tonight, everyone!
