Farewell, playoffs? The news on Martin Prado's injury has just come in. In addition to his hip pointer, Prado has a torn external oblique muscle. Recovery time is 2 months of no activity...in other words, his season is done. Kaput. No playoffs for him if the team gets there. So that means...the Braves are looking at Brooks Conrad, every day third baseman. Quite a step down from Chipper Jones, eh? Talk about winds of change on the infield...from Glaus-Prado-Escobar-Jones to Lee-Infante-Gonzalez-Conrad. Good god, if the team makes the playoffs with that infield, Bobby Cox deserves a gold star just for the hell of it. This sucks. The Braves are up by a half game in the wild card, but with this news...man, its tough to see them holding on.
